My father spent alot of his time painting lead soldiers and this was one of his references. It is a book offering forty pages of colour illustratrations, presenting 130 uniforms of the past and what was the present at time of original publication. Also included are facts about the regiments, the uniforms, stories and traditions. In addition two appendices give nicknames, types of headress, shoulder piping, trouser stripes, guidons, and Colours. On the end papers are color illustrations of the crests of 120 regiments. Written by Colonel Frank Wilson, himself a soldier, it was printed in Great Britain. and published by Blackie and Son Limited. This book is well used, page edges show their age and some discoloration, but an interesting reference for any soldier hobbyist or historian. It does not have a publishing date. It is clothe bound harback and my research indicates that at least one was published in the 50's by the same company. It appears to have been originally written in 1939
