This is a fantastic vintage British magazine The Bystander - May 19, 1937 - Volume CXXXIV No. 1744. It measures 12' x 8.75' and it is all about the Coronation of King George VI (The Queen's father.) The pictures are fabulous. They are black & white, brown & white and colored pictures. Some of the articles and pictures include: The Coronation, A Survey of the Pageantry, the Queen and the Princesses, His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen, a Portrait by Charles Willis, the Coronation Setting, the new Queen and her family, King George VI in His Coronation Robes, the Queen's Train-Bearers, Portrait of the King in Naval Uniform, High Society news, Fashion Photos and articles and many wonderful advertisements for everything you can imagine from hotels, cigarettes, hospitals, Salvation Army, suits, beautiful British cars of the day, Harrods and many, many more. There must be over 100 pages and they are wonderful. One of the pages has pulled away from the binding and the first 2 pictures (the front and back covers) are not attached to the rest of the magazine. Now they are 2 separate pages. They have some tears, creases and shelf dust and the binding is worn but the magazine itself is in very nice condition. The magazine is almost half an inch thick. The advertisements are exceptional and so are the styles of the day. This magazine also has incredible fashion ideas. There is no musty smell - it has been stored well. It is so heavy because there are so many pages. The Coronation date was May 12, 1937. This is a very rare find.
