The Costume of the Russian Empire. Illustrated by a Series of Seventy-Three Engravings. With Descriptions in English and French. London: William Miller, 1803. Although the title-page bears the date 1803, there is at least one watermark of 1796 in preliminaries, and another of 1808 in the plates. There may be other watermarks as well. Folio (33 x 27cm), two separate title-pages [x] 73 hand-colored plates with descriptions and tissue-guards. Save for missing half-title, complete. Title-page and a leaf in the preliminaries with a bit of edge crumbling. Text is foxed, plates are lightly and evenly toned. Bound in half red morocco over cloth, top edge gilt, spine gilt. Gilt lettering on spine reads: 'Costumes of the World. V. All the Russias.'. Binding rubbed, nick to lower spine. Overall in very good condition.
