The History of Napoleon: Edited by R H Horne Illustrated with many hundred engravings on wood from designs by Raffet and Horace Vernet in two volumes. Published in London by Robert Tyas in 1841. Very Scarce. Both contain frontis illustrations of Napoleon. Large folding coloured outline map of Europe published by Baldwin & Crudock 1836. Many full page and text illustrations. Some of contents include Napoleon's Return to Italy, Napoleon Resides in the Tuileries, Napoleon Created Emperor, Battle of Trafalgar, The Russians in Poland, Occupation of Spain by the French, Napoleon in Elba, and Napoleon arrives at St Helena with a description of the Island. Also contains facsimiles of Napoleon's Various Signatures plus The Second Funeral of Napoleon with separate title page dated 1841. 379/510 pages. 6.25 x 9.75 inches. Front covers both detached. Marking and wear to covers with tears to edges and pieces of covering worn. Raised spines worn with gilt decoration and pieces missing. Ink inscription. Browning, marking and foxing to pages. Small tear to map. Frontis and title page to Vol 1, loose. Frontis and endpapers detached to Vol 2.
