This auction is for an antique hardback book titled The Domestic Practice of Hydropathy, with 15 engraved illustrations, written by Edward Johnson, M.D., and published by Fowlers and Wells in 1854. This book has 467 pages of text, and an additional 12 pages of advertisements by the publisher for other works on hydropathy, phrenology, physiology, and mesmerism and psychology. This is one of the classic texts on the medical practice of using water as a primary healing agent; it not only discusses the methods, but also the treatment of various diseases.
A good book for either reference or just medical humor.
The book is in very good condition, with the gilt title on the spine very legible. The first loose blank page does have a small doodle in pencil, and a small scrape; other than that, the remainder of the book is bound tightly, but does have light foxing throughout.
