Written by Mary Bradford Crowninshield, published by D. Lothrop Company, 1886, First Edition. 392 pages with map endpapers to the front, 33 drawings and engravings. The story of two young boys on a cruise with their uncle to explore the 54 lighthouses found along the North Atlantic coast (New Hampshire and Maine) aboard the screw-steamer the Goldenrod. Scenic pictures and detailed drawings enhance this book of bygone era. In Very Good condition. Front board is beginning to tear away, but it's not very loose (a shot of glue just might do the trick). Beautifully embossed and illustrated cover and spine with silver and gold highlights. Light wear to the top and bottom of the spine and corners. Very solid condition. A great book to add to any American History library or lighthouse collection.
