F blk Moore -high E- Al. cds on 1832 folded letter. Very interesting letter about small pox. It has broken out in Athens. 4 days ago about a dozen persons in 4 families were were suspected to be infected with that terrible disease. He locked up his house and moved his family 16 miles to the place where he now writes. He writes of vacinations, and efforts to remove the sick from the village The infection was brought from New Orleans in clothing. 2 have already died- both blacks. He has been spitting bloody matter. He writes to his uncle in Westminister, Mass. A graphic description of small pox in the 1830's.
