7 7/8 x 6 1/2 inches. There are more than 100 pages, plus inserts of photos and newspaper clippings. Gilded edges. The actual book (small sticker inside cover left corner top label, Sold by Augustus R. Sparks Druggist and Bookseller Fairfield Iowa. Condition of the journal is fair to good, Back of the journal has lost its cover, but is still intact.Over-all the book is in good condition, quite readable, minor signs of aging. There are several very beautifully colored lithographs by T. Sinclair Thil Dreser. The book is a book of Mementoes. Filled with poems, sonnets, activities, births, deaths, weddings, and mishaps of Mrs. Jane Smock's family and friends. Most all pages are signed, the handwriting is mostly readable and in many cases quite beautiful, several have dates, ranging from the mid 1850's to the late1890's. There are also many photos, paper-clippings, death notices, tin type photo of a child (inset), their home, which seems to be for the most part in and around central Indiana. I have not or could not recognize any familiar names, but it is quite possible there could be some famous signitures. A remarkable look into the life and activities of people from one of the most turbulant times in America's history.
