NY,Greenwood 1987. 1st Edit. Not issued in DJ. Thick heavy 8vo  [9.5' x 6.5'] in maroon cloth with gilt titles. 459 pgs. Many B/W photo portraits.

Finely made, and very scarce book was researched and assembled from interviews etc. by two Oberlin College music proffesors/instructors. I covers the history of Edison's developement of of recording and the competition to sign artists with the Victor Co. in the intro, and prologue. The bulk of the book is made up of interviews with Edisons son, and various recording artists ane recorders over the decades showing the developement of studio recording.

Edison's son, Lotte Lehman, Andre Previn, Louis Kauffman, Benny Goodman are but a few of those interviewed.

This is a very scarce, attractive and  high quality book, printed on high grade paper, well bound, and assembled. It is flawless except for a 3' line on the front enpaper, made with a marker. Thus a Fine copy. This book was not issued in a DJ.
