This volume contains 39 tipped-in (glued in on one edge) color lithographic plates of British judges, magistrates, barristers, and legal officials. Many of the color caricature portraits were originally painted by Sir Leslie Ward, which he signed 'SPY'. Each of the color lithographic plates is accompanied by a brief history of each subject. There are a total of 121 unpaginated (un-numbered) leaves. There appears to be no missing leaves. Cream-colored, heavy vellum outer binding, some soiling, and rubbing present. Gilt lettering and decoration on the outside. Slight internal spotting. There is a 1 7/8' tear in the upper spine cover, at the hinge, see photo. Front and back boards are slightly warped. This volume measures 11 1/4' tall, and 8 7/8' wide. The color lithographic plates vary in size. Most are 7 1/8' high, and range from 4 1/2' to 5 3/16' wide. All of the 39 color plates are clear and bright.
