A Taste of TEXAS
Compiled for Neiman-Marcus
By Marihelen McDuff
A book of recipes edited by Jane Trahey from 2,000 recipes sent by N-M customers to the Texas State College for Women (now in Denton, TX).
These are the best and the most interesting dishes and beverages made by Texas born and bred.
Once you cook these recipes, even as a Yankee, you can call yourself my pardner. These 300 recipes from after WWII range from Texas tantalizers (canapes) to mincemeat Mother-in-Law (a desert, pardner). Even TEXAS chili and the best is the 'Father of all Barbecue sauces' - just invite me over when it is all ready!
Publisher: Random House, 1949, 11th printing; 303 pages includes ink drawings and index. Book is bright, tight and clean except for one small smudge (from the prior cook) on front end page but otherwise no other marks; prior owners notes of favorite recipes in pencil on back end page. Dust jacket has chips missing (see photos) and stains on the cover; it is in a mylar jacket for protection;
