Garden City: Garden City Publishing, 1927, 1928. Octavo, 400 pages. Originally published by Alfred Knopf in 1927/28, and thus very early. Asbury's very important history of crime in New York City which includes such colorful figures as Dago Frank, Gyp The Blood, Dopey Benny, Little Augie, etc., etc. The basis for Martin Scorcese's movie of the same name and a source for numerous other books, including Luc Sante's Low Life.
No dust jacket, in black publisher's cloth printed in red. General edgewear and some chipping to head and foot of spine. Internally clean and very good. Ink stamp 'Retailed by Macy's' on title page, so it was sold at the original Herald Square department store.
