Here you see an excellent 1937 1st edition large hardcover by the well-known Samuel Chamberlain, who made several beautiful pictorial books on different areas in his lifetime. This one is on Cape Cod, and starts at the 'beginning' of the Cape, making its way all the way to PTown in really gorgeous full-page and smaller photographs. Book measures 9.5' x 12.5' and in total is 5/8' thick--unpaginated but with tons of photos and a little informative text. Features many, many towns so there's a good chance yours is in there. From the 'skyscraper' building in Harwich, (really a large wooden structure housing a few stores, etc,) to a shot of the Woods Hole Ferry, to an archway made of whale bone, to the many shots of houses, landscapes, beaches with people, roadside attractions, this is just a great glimpse of the Cape at that time. Published by Hastings House of NY City.
Most pages in excellent, clean, unmarked, untorn, uncreased condition. Only exception is a few stains on a few of the last pages--mostly on the borders but I believe 2 or 3 photos have some staining--still, it does not detract as much as you would think, these images are so remarkable. A little age-related discoloration around page edges, but not bad. Hc has a nice embossed windmill on front. Hc peeling at edges, a piece of spine missing, some black stains on back, front cover split at binding but still attached fairly securely, back cover a little split at binding.
Pls ask any ?s before bidding and thx.
