The item for sale is a First Edition of the book titled 'By Waterways to Gotham' written by Lewis R. Freeman (author of 'Down the Columbia'; 'Down the Yellowstone'; 'The Colorado River' etc...), and published by Dodd, Mead and Company of New York in 1926. When, after several seasons of rough boating on the rivers cited above the author decided that a 'quiet water' voyage might be in store, he ultimately pushed off on an eighteen-foot skiff to voyage from Milwaukee to New York. His 2000 mile voyage through the Great Lakes, Canada, the St. Lawrence Seaway, Lake Champlain, and the Hudson River turned out to be the equal for 'roughness' to his white water encounters the prior year. This book recounts the challenges and surprises of the trip, including a number of photographs of the places and people encountered along the way. It is a great travelogue of a unique adventure. Feel free to ask questions and thanks for looking!
