This is a 235 page hardcover, partially wrapped in leather, measuring 9' x 11 1/2' titled 'The Florist's Manual' by William Scott.Published by Florist's Publishing Company,Chicago, dated 1899 on both sides of the title page(1st ed.?),this is a heavily illustrated reference book for commercial florists(price, five dollars). This contains articles on choice palms, fern and cycads by W.H.Taplin; Orchids by Wm.Hewson; hints on the collection of Nepenthes,Bromeeliads, etc.by John Cowell,Director of the Botanic Gardens; and the remainder of the pages by the author William Scott. With ten pages(in the back of the book)of advertisements of greenhouses, nurseries, florists, etc(see scan),there also an unusual woven bookmark I found in the book.Condition is fair to very good, fair because both boards are unattached and the spine has no cloth, but it's complete with clean, white pages that have great edges and corners(the frontpiece has an open tear),nice floral design endpapers,a great book of flowers with many great illustartions.Any questions feel free to ask.
