Price : US $19.95
Unusual copy of the increasingly rare 'The Little Team That Could & Darn Near Did!: The Fabulous Rise of the Phoenix Suns,' by Joe Gilmartin, published by the Phoenix Suns in 1976, paperback, with many black and white photos, 252 pages, with much data on members of the team which went up against the Boston Celtics in the NBA Championship finals of 1976. The Suns didn't prevail, but the series is famous for the triple overtime in the knuckle-biting fifth game (sometimes called the greatest game ever played). This book is signed on the title page by Alvan Adams - the Oklahoma Kid - who spent his entire career, 13 seasons, in the Suns uniform, and also by Paul Westphal, who later went to the Seattle SuperSonics, and who eventually came back to the Suns as a player and then as coach. Westphal is currently an assistant coach with Dallas. Included with with book is a ticket to the April 10, 1977, game between the Suns and the New York Nets at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix - the final game of the 1977 season - which Phoenix won 128-104. The book was acquired at an estate sale in Scottsdale and the ticket was inside the book, apparently having been used as a page marker. The book is clean and unmarked, with minor page tanning because of age. Insurance is required. The book, along with the ticket, will be securely wrapped in bubble wrap and mailed in a rigid box.
