Number 3 Issue of Gentry Magazine Summer 1952 Number 3 Issue of Gentry Magazine Summer 1952

In the early 1950s Gentry Magazine broke new ground in men's magazines with a high-class product printed quarterly targeting men of class and means. The magazine was almost hand-made, with clothing ads having material swatches added to the page and various color inserts sprinkling the pages. Articles covered topics from art appreciation (often featuring the female nude form) to food and wine, fashion and recreation, travel and entertainment. This rare and very desirable issue #3, Summer 1952, features an illustrated article by John Pfeiffer, 'Brain...Universe...Reality', 'The Last Mission of the Corvette Claymore,' by Victor Hugo, a portfolio on Fishing, with original free fly still attached, 'The Nude in American Painting, by Paul Magriel, story on the Olympics, 1952, as well as articles on Golf, Hounds, Duck Shooting, a Portfolio of Gentry Fashions and much, much more. This issue is loaded with colorful swatches, color plates, tipped in inserts. This issue is in excellent condition and complete inside and out, with only the most minor cover wear. Gentry magazine seems a likely inspiration for Playboy, published shortly after, with a little more emphasis on the female form and a little less on male culture. Anyway, here's a copy that you can bid on. They're scarce as hen's teeth these days, but this one will go to the highest bidder with no added handling charges.
