This antiquarian 1894 hardcover (clothbound-green/blindstamped) book is titled: ' Uncle Tom's Cabin ' by Harriet Beecher Stowe. It is 'Copyright, 1894, by Henry Altemus'........Philadelphia. This book has a photographic image of Harriet Beecher Stowe with her facsimile signature facing the title page and is illustrated throughout. This is the book which helped bring about the Civil War as it spoke against slavery in America. It measures 4 1/4 inches by 6 1/4 inches and has 634 pages, not including advertising pages in back for other Henry Altemus Publications. Condition: It has an intact spine with all pages attached and the hinges have no separation. Pages are off-white with just a few having some age spots/foxing. Pages have no creasing or tears. Pastedowns and endpapers have minimal foxing. The coverboards are straight/square with only slight wear of the fabric at the corner tips and at the top of the spine. Very light soiling to fabric. This book looks very good for its age of 114 years.
