Price : US $51.00
Up for auction is a first edition hardcover copy of The Brown Derby Cookbook with original dustjacket, signed by chef Robert Kreis. Book itself is in excellent condition, dust jacket is in good condition. Dust jacket has small tears along edges and corners and discoloration on spine (fading). Both dust jacket flaps are still attached, no corners are clipped. Inside front cover '$1.00' is penciled in. Stated first edition (see picture). Pages show minor yellowing. No smoke smell or musty odors.
On introduction first page, there is an inscription and signature from chef Robert Kreis, executive chef of the Brown Derby at the time the cookbook was published. Some historians say that it was Kreis that actually developed the Cobb salad in honor of Bob Cobb, owner of the restaurant!
This is a rare find, something very special for the cookbook collector! It is rare to find a copy of this cookbook in such great condition with dustjacket intact. The signature adds much to the value for its significance in the history of the Brown Derby and its place in the history of American cuisine.
