Gustav S. Peters or G. S. Peters (1793-1847)
This German-American immigrant of Carlisle and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was one of the leading printers of broadsides, birth/baptismal (taufscheins) certificates, and toy children's books for the Pennsylvania Dutch of the early 19th-century. Some consider him to be the first American color printer for the color-printed (not handcolored) process he pioneered in works published in the 1820s. Much of his fraktur-lettered publications are rare and highly sought after.
