A miniature German language dictionary,
printed in two columns of microscopic type in an oblong format.
Bound in full red cloth, gilt-stamped on front cover.
The cover bears the legend :
in gilt. (Encyclopedia, smallest book in the world)
Housed in a hinged, metal case, the original enameled tin locket.
The case is lettered and equipped with a small magnifying glass inset into the front cover.
The Konversations-Lexikon was the first miniature book owned by Louis Bondy, the collector, writer, and bookseller who was responsible for heightening interest in miniature books, which first inspired his interest in the subject.
A very good copy of a scarce miniature work from the turn of the 19th century.
