Fort Riley, Kansas, and approved by a board of officers convened at the Mounted
Service School, this is War Department Document No. 375, Office of the Chief of
Staff, published by United States of America War Office, Government Printing
Office, Washington (D.C.), 1910, hardback, no dust jacket, 98 pages.



The book
starts out with a 5 page, small print outline of the questions on the Saumur
exam, with references to pages in this book where the translated answers can be
located.  The outline is followed by an
interesting chapter on the history of equitation, from the middle ages through the
Italian schools, the French Schools of the Sixteenth, Seventeenth, and Eighteenth
Centuries, the Military
Schools, through the
Revolution, Restoration, up to Contemporary Equitation, which included Baucher
and Count D'aure.
